Here are 7 of my favorites:
1. RIFF CITY SOCIAL - CHANDLER ST | BUFFALO NY
Do you love the industrial vibes you see in many modern wedding photos? Me too! Which is why Riff City Social tops my list. Exposed duct work and modern lighting, a funky beer garden with local artists' graffiti and of course craft beer made right on site make this a perfect venue for the less traditional couple.
2. FORBES THEATER @ 500 PEARL | DOWNTOWN BUFFALO NY
Set in the heart of downtown Buffalo, the Forbes Theater certainly has that "it factor" - location, location, location! I love that you can step right out the front door and have access to so many beautiful photo locations within a 3 minute walk.
But of course, we're talking about the venue, not just photo spots. So what else does the Forbes Theater offer? A renovated historic theater (originally built in 1914!) that is modeled after an Italian palace. It really hits all the WOW factors. I love the balcony which is often used for wedding ceremonies - such a unique space. And one of my favorite features - hotel rooms right on site to get ready in that are equally as gorgeous as your ceremony and reception spaces.
3. BUFFALO & ERIE COUNTY BOTANICAL GARDENS | BUFFALO NY
One of my favorite places in Buffalo to visit for a Sunday stroll or better yet, a wedding! If you love lots of natural light, florals and greenery this is definitely the place for you.
The Botanical Gardens has options for both indoor or outdoor ceremonies. You can host just your ceremony and a small cocktail hour or you can have your full ceremony and reception at the venue.

4. CURTISS HOTEL | BUFFALO NY
I'm obsessed with the design of this downtown Buffalo Hotel! Whether you're taking photos inside or partying up on the rooftop, this place has all the modern vibes you're craving.
I'm not sure I could pick a favorite between the ground floor of the hotel or the rooftop - but I'll say this: hosting your event on the roof of the hotel, overlooking downtown Buffalo is such a cool alternative to a traditional venue. And not to fret - the area is covered in case of inclement weather ;)

5. RESURGENCE BREWING | BUFFALO NY
Combining everything that's great about Buffalo - the food, the craft beer, epic photo spots nearby such as the iconic Buffalo grain silos, waterfront and downtown - Resurgence Brewery just had to be on this list!
Their second floor room has those high ceilings and exposed ducts you probably love if you're reading this list. And I love how white and fresh the space is. Plus it has a balcony overlooking the brewery where they make that delicious delicious beer.

6. NOTTING HILL FARM | SOUTH WALES NY
I know, I know... the word "farm" probably doesn't make you think "modern"... but just take a look at these photos! Notting Hill Farm is absolutely not your traditional wedding banquet hall. Its high ceilings, modern chandeliers and exposed wood and brick work make this a stunning alternative to a traditional venue. Pair this place with the right decor and you can mix modern and farmhouse in a tres chic way!

7. BRICKHALL IN THE HOLLOW | CLARENCE NY
A venue with a great mix of modern and rustic - Brickhall in the Hollow in Clarence NY is last, but certainly not least on this list. This venue has beautiful stained glass windows, exposed brick, high ceilings and chandeliers to make your jaw drop. Plus an upstairs bridal suite with plenty of natural light.
You and your guests won't be disappointed about celebrating your love in this stunning space!
